Erwin Dazelle
Inside the Wine, June 2009
We proudly welcome Erwin Dazelle to the gallery for his debut American exhibition. Mr. Dazelle initially honed his skills as a glass artist, inheriting a family tradition begun by his grandfather in the south of France during the 1930s. Subsequently translating these techniques to the canvas, Dazelle has developed a style that is at once bold & naive, & is as sharp as it is colorful. Fusing iconic French imagery & traditional Basque themes with this graphic style has made Dazelle's works accessible & intriguing to all who view them. Since 1996, Dazelle has gained a certain notoriety throughout France, in particular the Aquitaine region. His paintings have been hailed as "lively and pure", & Mr. Dazelle himself has been labeled "an artist who's got character" (Le Magazine des Arts). Dazelle currently lives in Bayonne, FR, and we are pleased to be hosting him at the gallery on June 13, 2009 @ 7:00pm.
